Bad news for HTC One S users, previously there's a rumor said that the One S will also receiving Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update with Sense 5 UI. However, HTC France has just officially said that the One S will forever stuck on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean unless you root it.
HTC France has responded a question on Facebook user that the One S won't be getting any new Android and Sense UI updates. Currently the One S is running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Sense 4+ UI.
“We can confirm that the HTC One S will not receive further Android OS updates and will remain on the current version of Android and HTC Sense. We realize this news will be met with disappointment by some, but our customers should feel confident that we have designed the HTC One S to be optimized with our amazing camera and audio experiences.”
This means that the HTC One S will only get one major Android update once in its life cycle, which is quite bad for it as the hardware inside the HTC One S is capable for next major Android update.
We did not know why HTC did this decision, we think that Malaysia's HTC One S will also stuck the update forever. It's time for an upgrade perhaps? Maybe you should go for the smaller HTC One when it is official.
