Snapdragon S4 powered HTC One S will getting Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Sense 5 update

Back to July, HTC had dropped the plan for updating the One S to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Sense 5 UI. HTC did not state the reason why the One S not getting Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Sense 5 update. According to some source, HTC stop updating the One S due to the Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 powered HTC One S C2 (Ville C2) variant which was released in Asian (including Malaysia) and select eastern European markets.

Qualcomm has stopped critical software support for the S3, leaving the obligation to update those gnarly pieces of chipset software on OEMs. Coding the Android 4.2 update with Sense 5 for the S3 variant of the One S would not be impossible, but it would force HTC software engineers to take on an extremely difficult and expensive task which has typically fallen on Qualcomm’s shoulders. Here's a good news for Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 powered HTC One S users, the One S will receive Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update soon alongside with Sense 5 UI.

To check the model of your One S, simply checker on the back of the box:
Model Z520e : Snapdragon S4 eligible for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5 update.
Model Z560e : Snapdragon S3 ineligible for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5 update.

Note that Malaysian's HTC One S is powered by Snapdragon S3 processor, so won't be available for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5 update. Some stores sold the HTC One S Z560e in Western Europe but if your phone was purchased in France, you 9 chances of 10 to provide a model with Z520e S4 Snapdragon. The update will most likely bringing firmware number 4.06.401.1.

So far we do not have any date for the official update. It may be a good news for European and American users, but not Asian users. As Malaysian's HTC One S is Z560e model, so we probably won't getting the update.
