Xiaomi announces Redmi for international markets, coming to Malaysia and Singapore

It seems that Xiaomi is now focusing to bring its smartphones to international markets, especially for the Asian markets. Here's a good news, the Xiaomi Redmi is coming to Malaysia and Singapore. This is because both Malaysian and Singaporean markets are the two main markets for Xiaomi.

The Redmi previously was known as Hongmi (红米), but Xiaomi has decided to use different naming for other markets. It will hit Malaysian shores in Q2 2014, which means you need to wait for a few months.

Specs wise, the Redmi has a 4.7" IPS LCD display with HD resolution. It is powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor with 1 GB of RAM. Unfortunately, the Redmi has only 4 GB internal storage but, thankfully, it comes with microSD card slot.

The Redmi has an 8 MP shooter at the back with 1080p video recording and there's a 1.3 MP front-facing shooter too. The device has 2,000 mAh battery and it is running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with MIUI.

There's no word on the pricing and release date of this dual-SIM device but we will keep you in touch. Furthermore, it seems that there will be more Xiaomi smartphones such as Xiaomi Mi 3 coming to Malaysia.
