Huawei launches four devices and a smart wearable device in Malaysia

Huawei Device Malaysia today has officially launched the latest flagship device - Ascend P7, alongside with the Ascend G6, MediaPad X1, MediaPad M1 and a wearable device, TalkBand B1.


The Ascend P7 was announced back to last month, the main selling point of the device is the 8 MP front-facing camera with 5-pieces lens coupled with IMAGESmart 2.0 software that boasts 10 level auto-facial enhancement and wide-angle photo function. Huawei has added a feature calls groufies (panorama selfies), which is able to shoot group selfies.



The Ascend P7 has a larger 5" display with higher 1080p resolution and it is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The phone is slightly thinner at 6.5 mm and weighs 124 g. The device uses back glass design, and surprisingly it also uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3 too.

Powering the device is a HiSilicon Krin 910T chipset with 1.8 GHz quad-core Cortex-A9 CPU, Mali 450 GPU and 2 GB of RAM.

The Ascend P7 has a 13 MP camera with a Sony BSI sensor and f/2.0 aperture. Unlike other Android flagship devices, the Ascend P7 is only able to record 1080p videos instead of 4K resolution.

Juicing up the device is a 2,500 mAh battery that is capable of enduring 404 hours of 4G stand-by time and 14 hours of talk time. The phone charges up to 100% in 3.5 hours using the included charger.

It is running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Emotion UI 2.3 and is priced at RM 1,499 with black and white colour options, the pink colour is coming soon.

The rest of the devices were announced back to MWC 2014 - Ascend G6, MediaPad X1, MediaPad M1 and TalkBand B1.


The Huawei Ascend G6 is a mid-range device from Huawei, it brings a 4.5" screen of qHD (540 x 960 px) resolution, a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor, 5 MP camera on the front and an 8 MP one on the back.

The Huawei Ascend G6 is priced at RM 749 for 3G version and RM 899 for LTE version.


The Huawei MediaPad X1 is the thinnest tablet in the world, it is just at 7.18 mm thick, which is even thinner than iPad mini with Retina Display's 7.5 mm.

The slate has a 7" display with 1080p resolution at 323 ppi. The slate is powered by home-made 1.6 GHz quad-core processor with 2 GB of RAM. It has a 13 MP snapper at the back and there's a 5 MP front-facer too. With 5,000 mAh battery included, the slate is weighing at just 239 g.

The MediaPad X1 7.0 is priced at RM 1,299 for 3G version and RM 1,399 for LTE version.


The MediaPad M1 looks a little bit like HTC One, it has dual speakers on the front, capable of DTS surround sound. The slate has a 8" display with the resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It has 8 GB expandable memory and 1 GB of RAM.

The tablet is powered by 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, which is same as the MediaPad X1. Juicing up the slate is a 4,800 mAh battery, which is reverse charge compliant and can charge other devices with a dedicated cable, and it is at 7.9 mm thick and weight at 329 g.

The MediaPad M1 8.0 is priced at RM 899 for 3G version and RM 1,099 for LTE version.


The last one is the Huawei TalkBand B1. The TalkBand B1 is a wearable device, it has NFC and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity. The TalkBand is able to make a phone calls, and it also features IP57 water and dust resistance certification.

The TalkBand has a curved 1.4-inch OLED display without touchscreen functionality. The only way to use the TalkBand is manage it with an app on your phone. As for the battery life, it has 7 hours of talk time and 2 weeks of standby capability. It is priced at RM 499 with grey, black, blue, yellow and pink colour options.

Meanwhile, the Huawei Ascend G630 and Honor 3X are also now available in Malaysia for RM 699 and RM 1,099 respectively.
