Design
The Desire 610 looks a little bit like the One (M8) but it has less rounded edges and the phone is built by plastic.

The dual front stereo speakers on top and below the display do increase the length of it. Furthermore, the device is also fingerprint magnet, which might annoy some users.

HTC Desire 610 handling

We find that the phone is nice to hold and just as usual the power button is at the top of it.

Display
The 4.7" qHD LCD display gives us nice viewing experience and it has wide viewing angle.

However, qHD resolution is a little bit low as there are some devices come with 720p resolution at even lower price.

Performance
The Desire 610 supports 4G LTE connectivity, thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset. The 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU and Adreno 305 GPU is able to handle games well, though there may be some hiccups when playing high graphics games.

HTC Desire 610 benchmark results

As you can see, it scored 6,295 on Quadrant Standard and 17,183 on AnTuTu benchmark, which is better than other same level chipsets.

Just like the One (M8), the dual front stereo speakers on the Desire 610 produce loud and clear sound, though it is not as loud as the One (M8).

Software
The Desire 610 is running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 6 UI. Basically the user experience is quite similar to the One (M8) despite it lacks of motion launch feature.

The Sense 6 lockscreen is more polished, swiping up takes you to the last app you used, while swiping to the left or to the right will take you to the homescreen or BlinkFeed respectively.

Lockscreen | Homescreen | BlinkFeed | Apps drawer

Perhaps the biggest difference between Sense 6 and Sense 5/5.5 is the presence of on-screen navigation buttons. HTC Sense 6 is fast, plus the powerful processing power, everything just runs smoothly without any hiccup.

HTC BlinkFeed now looks flatter and it follows the colour theme you've set. It aggregates content from social networks and news sources. You can pick interested topics and even search for specific content in BlinkFeed.

Notification area | Quick settings

The notification area and the quick settings power toggles stay unchanged. You can access the quick settings by tapping the upper right corner or through a two finger swipe from the status bar.

We can only say that Sense 6 is fast and responsive, which is one of the best user interface we have used.

Camera
Although the Desire 610 doesn't have UltraPixel camera, but it has a higher 8 MP camera.

The camera interface and modes

The higher camera resolution means that the Desire 610 is able to capture more details than the One (M8).

The camera is able to capture a lot of details but the noise level has also increased. Without the UltraPixel technology, the Desire 610 unable to do well in low-light scene.

Battery
The 2,040 mAh battery is non-removable, it has impressive battery standby time. We didn't really test out the battery life but playing games won't drain the battery much, unless you keep it in full brightness plus mobile data on.

Final words
The Desire 610 is priced at RM 999, which considers high for now a day mid-ranger. For this pricing getting a Xiaomi Mi 3 is much more better.

Xiaomi Mi 3 (RM 769)

However we really like about its loud and clear stereo speakers and impressive performance. As conclusion, you pay for what you get. The Desire 610 offers good audio quality and it has 4G LTE connectivity, which the Mi 3 don't have.

Pros
- Impressive audio quality
- Support 4G LTE connectivity
- Sense 6 is fast
- Impressive battery life

Cons
- Price tag is higher than some phones with better specs
- Display resolution is quite low
- Plastic body easy gets scratched and fingerprint magnet
