HTC refreshes J Butterfly in Japan with Duo Camera

The HTC J Butterfly was world's first smartphone with 1080p display and after nearly 2 years, HTC and Japanese carrier KDDI has announced a new version of the J Butterfly. The new J Butterfly HTL23 is based on the One (M8) but with some changes.

The phone has the same 5" 1080p Super LCD3 display and is powered by 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2 GB of RAM. The internal memory has upgraded to 32 GB and it can be expanded via microSD card up to 128 GB.

The new HTC J Butterfly is a waterproof and dust-proof device, which means the BoomSound speakers had to be sacrificed. However HTC has offers a JBL in-ear headset in the box.

The camera is not 4 MP UltraPixel sensor but a regular 13 MP sensor similar to the One mini and One (E8). Thankfully it still has the secondary depth sensor from the One (M8), which means all those nice features such as UFocus are present.

The phone is running on Androidd 4.4 KitKat and it also supports HTC Dot View Case. It will be available in Japan on KDDI in late August with three colors - Rouge, Canvas and Indigo.

As the new J Butterfly had announced, it seems that the international version Butterfly 2 will be same as it but with exception of waterproof. Meanwhile, do check on our poll of HTC One (E8) and HTC One (M8) here.
