HTC Malaysia launches Desire EYE and RE Camera

HTC Malaysia today has launched the brand new selfie-centric Desire EYE and the RE Camera, which is a small handheld camera from the company.

The Desire EYE, is the company's selfie-centric device and it is the flagship in the Desire series. It has a slightly bigger 5.2" display with Full HD 1080p resolution. Under the hood, the Desire EYE is powered by 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2 GB of RAM.

HTC Desire EYE hands-on

The Desire EYE is nice to hold in hands, there are Submarine Blue and Coral Red versions, which comes with two combine colors in one device. Personally I like the Submarine Blue version, because it's hard to find a phone with such a special color.

The main selling point of the device is not the 13 MP f//2.0 rear camera but the front, with the same 13 MP resolution and two tones dual LED flash. HTC want to ensure that every user can get the best selfie shoot, and the front camera is equally important to the back, that's why the front-facing camera of the Desire EYE has such a high resolution camera.

The Desire EYE also features IPX7 water resistance, and comes with BoomSound speakers too. Well, the BoomSound speakers are hard to notice as both speakers are placing at the very small gap but still able to produce loud and clear audio quality.

RE Camera hands-on

The RE Camera on the other hand, is a small handheld camera. It fits naturally and comfortable in the palm of your hand. And with it, you are able to enjoy the every live moment while capturing image instead of looking at your phone or camera view finder. The RE Camera is always in standby mode, so that you can take the photo immediately.

It has a 16 MP CMOS sensor with Full HD video recording and 146-degree wide-angle lens. The RE Camera is also IP57 waterproof, which means you are able to bring it to 1 meter underwater for 30 minutes. It comes with a few interesting accessories, one of it is the screw cap, which provides even better water protection.

You can sync the photos, videos and time-lapse recordings to your smartphone through the RE application. RE application is now available on Android and iOS, there is no need to edit or sync to your PC, as the RE app backs up everything to your phone or the cloud, with Wi-Fi connection.

The HTC Desire EYE is now available in Malaysia with two colors - Submarine Blue and Coral Red. Pricing wise, it is priced at RM 1,699, which is quite impressive compared to other same level devices. While the RE Camera will be available in mid-December for RM 699 with Navy, Orange and White colors.
