Xiaomi Redmi 2 is now official with dual LTE

Xiaomi has finally took a wrap off the brand new Redmi 2, the successor of the company's most affordable smartphone ever.

The second generation Redmi smartphone comes with the same 4.7" 720p IPS display with 312 ppi pixel density. Yes, with the IPS panel, users are able to adjust the screen temperature. Unlike the Redmi 1S, the Redmi 2 is a dual SIM device that supports LTE connectivity.

This is because the device is now powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. The internal storage and RAM remain at 8 GB and 1 GB. The battery is from Samsung and has the capacity of 2,200 mAh with the support of Quick Charge 1.0.

The Redmi 2 packs an 8 MP camera with OmniVision sensor. It is able to perform burst shoot at 10 fps and record 1080p video. The front camera has been upgraded to 2 MP resolution with Beauty Face 2.0 technology.

The Redmi 2 comes with white, black, yellow, green and pink color options, but it is likely to be available in Malaysia with one color only, while the back covers will be also available in online store. It is running on MIUI 6 based on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Just as usual, the device will be available in China first with the pricing of 699 Yuan (approximately RM 399). It seems that Xiaomi Malaysia will be selling it at the same price tag as the Redmi 1S (RM 419).
