This might not be the first Intel Atom-based smartphone in the world, but I can say it is the first Intel Atom-based smartphone in Malaysia.
The Acer Liquid C1 is releasing soon in Malaysia, it will be available in Malaysia in March. The Liquid C1 is powered by Intel Atom Z2420- codenamed "Lexington", which was announced at CES 2013. The processor are clocked at 1.2 GHz single-core processor, and it has 400 MHz PowerVR SGX540 GPU. The phone are just 10 mm thin and it has 4 GB internal memory that support micro-SD card up to 32 GB.
The Liquid C1 are running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but Acer Malaysia said that they are working Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. The phone has a 8 MP main camera and a VGA front-facing camera. The 2,000 mAh battery offer 9 hours 3G talk time and 400 hours stand-by time. It also features a 4.3" IPS LCD display with 960 x 540 resolution at 256 ppi pixel density.
The Liquid C1 are available in Black and White colors, expect the price are around RM 999. Acer also planning to launch a "Try Before You Buy" program to for the new devices with some terms and conditions.
Besides Liquid C1, Acer also will bring Liquid Z120. The Liquid Z120 are dual-SIM budget that running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The phone are feature 3 MP camera that support 99 continues burst mode, 3.5" HVGA display, 1 GHz single-core processor, 512 MB of RAM, 4GB internal memory, 1,300 mAh battery, etc. The Liquid Z120 are priced at RM 399 and will be available soon next month.
