The Butterfly S is an upgrade version of the original Butterfly, it has the same design but with dual stereo speakers on the front, which called as HTC BoomSound. The Butterfly S has the same 5" Full HD Super LCD 3 display with pixel density of 440 ppi. It is powered by a 1.9 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 CPU with Adreno 320 GPU and 2 GB of RAM, which is similar to the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE.
The Butterfly S still having 16 GB internal storage with microSD card support, you will also getting 25 GB of free Dropbox cloud storage for 2 years. At the back, the HTC Butterfly S packs the same UltraPixel camera as the One (4 MP UltraPixel camera, f/2.0 aperture, 1/3" BSI sensor size with a 2.0 micron pixel size). The Butterfly S also feature HTC Zoe with HTC Share and Video highlights.
The Butterfly S is measured at 144.5 x 70.5 x 10.6 mm and weighs 160 g, it is much thicker and heavier than its predecessor. However, the Butterfly S has a 3,200 mAh battery which is a lot bigger than the original Butterfly's 2,020 mAh unit. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, DLNA, NFC and GPS, we hope that this time Malaysia unit will be getting same feature as it such as NFC connectivity (as Malaysia HTC Butterfly lack of NFC connectivity).
There's not much changed in terms of visuals, the Butterfly S looks more the same as its predecessor, except for the its thickness and different colour options - red, white and grey. The Butterfly S has the red metal ring surrounding the camera glass at the back.
The HTC Butterfly S is the first HTC device that runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. However, not much changed on its Sense 5 UI.
The HTC Butterfly S is expected to debut in Taiwan for NT $22,900 (around RM 2,290) in July. Unfortunately, there's no any news about the company's plans for a wider release. Stay tuned.
