[IFA 2013] Samsung announces Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Gear and refreshed Galaxy Note 10.1

Samsung has officially announced 3 new Galaxy products - Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Gear and refreshed Galaxy Note 10.1.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has been rumored for a long time, and finally Samsung has unveiled it today at IFA 2013 in Berlin.


The Galaxy Note 3 has a new leather back instead of plastic back cover, the device sports a 5.7" Full HD Super AMOLED display. It will be powered by either a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor (LTE) or 1.9 GHz octa-core Exynos processor (non-LTE). The third generation phablet has 3 GB of RAM with 32/64 GB expandable storage. Other specs include a 13 MP camera which capable for 4K UHD video recording at 30fps, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and a 3,200 mAh battery. The Galaxy Note 3 may available in Malaysia on 25th of September in Jet Black, Classic White, and Blush Pink.


Samsung Galaxy Gear

The Galaxy Gear is Samsung smartwatch which only works with the top end of the Galaxy line. It has a 1.63" Super AMOLED touch screen with 320 x 320 resolution, 227 ppi of pixel density.


The Galaxy Gear features a speaker and mic, so it can handle calls (with a noise cancellation mic), but also understand voice commands with S Voice. However, the Galaxy Gear does not runs on Android, but needs a connection to a Galaxy device – Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Note 3, Note 10.1 2014, the older devices (not the Galaxy Note 3 or Galaxy Note 10.1 2014) will need a software update. The connection is achieved through power-efficient Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

The Galaxy Gear is powered by an 800 MHz processor with 512 MB of RAM. The 315 mAh battery provides juice for "more than a day" which is also 25+ hours rating. It also features an 1.9 MP camera with BSI sensor that capable for 720p video recording. It can even do Sound & Shoot snaps, but you can only stored on 4 GB internal storage.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition)

Samsung has also revealed the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition). The Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) comes with the same leather back as the Galaxy Note 3.


It packs a 10" WQXGA (2560 x 1600 pixels) Super Clear LCD display, 1.9 GHz octa-core Exynos processor (Wi-Fi/3G) or 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor (LTE), 3 GB of RAM, 16/32/64 GB expandable storage, 8 MP camera with LED flash, 2 MP front camera, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and a 8,220 mAh battery.

Both Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) feature the new S Pen and all the new S Pen features such as Air Command, Scrapbook, Multi-Window enhancements and Pen Window. The Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) will go on-sale in Q3 2013.
