Just as expected, Sony has just unveiled the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet and the Xperia M2. The Xperia Z2 is the latest Sony's high-end device, while the Xperia Z2 Tablet is a larger version of Xperia Z2, as well as the sucessor of Xperia Tablet Z. As for the Xperia M2, it is previously known as Xperia G, which had appeared before the official announcement.
Sony Xperia Z2
The Xperia Z2, which is the latest high-end smartphone from Sony. It is the successor of the Xperia Z1 and Sony has improved the device over the Xperia Z1.
The Xperia Z2 has a larger 5.2" display with the same 1080p resolution instead of QHD as previous rumors suggested. Sony has once again offered X-Reality engine and Triluminos technology on it, and finally, the display is using IPS unit instead of TFT which found on the Z1.
The Xperia Z2 is powered by 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, which is minor upgrade over the Snapdragon 800. The device has additional 3 GB of RAM over 2 GB and the internal storage remains 16 GB but with microSD card slot.
The device has the same 20.7 MP camera with Sony G lens and BIONZ image processing on its back. However the Xperia Z2 is now capable for 4K video recordings at 30 fps, as well as 1080p@60fps and 720p@120fps video recordings.
Just as previous Sony high-end smartphones, the Xperia Z2 features IP58 for water and dust resistance certification, which means you can submerge the device up to 1.5 m water level for 30 minutes.
Sony has also added stereo speakers for the Xperia Z2, which boost the volume of the device.
With the 3,000 mAh battery included, the Xperia Z2 dimensions are 146.8 x 73.3 x 8.2 mm and it is weighing at 158 g, which is much lighter than its pedecessor.
The Sony Xperia Z2 is running on Android 4.4 KitKat with the latest Xperia UI. It will be available in black, white and purple.
Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet
The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is the latest high-end tablet from Sony, and it is also the successor of the Xperia Tablet Z. Overall the tablet looks like a larger version of Xperia Z2.
The slate looks identical to its predecessor, however it has faster Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz. The tablet has 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage with microSD card slot.
At the front it has the same 10.1" TFT display with 1920 x 1200 resolution. The camera unit is still the same 8 MP shoter and 2.2 MP front camera, both cameras are capable for 1080p video recording.
The Xperia Z2 Tablet also features the same IP58 certification as the Xperia Z2. The tablet is measured at 172 x 266 x 6.4 mm and weight at 439 g.
The tablet is running on Android 4.4 KitKat too with latest Xperia UI. Nothing much changes from the Xperia Tablet Z despite the faster processor, thinner body, more RAM and latest firmware. It will be available in black and white, and the tablet has both Wi-Fi only and LTE versions.
Sony Xperia M2
The last device is the Xperia M2, previously known as Xperia G. It is the latest mid-ranger from Sony and also the first Sony device with 4.8" display.
The Xperia M2 looks similar to the Xperia Z2, however it has a smaller 4.8" TFT display with qHD (540 x 960 px) resolution. The device is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 GPU and 1 GB of RAM.
The device has 8 GB internal storage with microSD card slot. At the back it has an 8 MP camera with 1080p video recording.
Unlike both devices as we've mentioned above, the Xperia M2 is running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean but you can expect to get the KitKat treatment soon.
The Xperia M2 has 2,300 mAh battery, and also weighs at 148 g with 8.6 mm thickness. It will be available in black, white and purple.
These devices is coming to Malaysia but there's no word on the launch date of these devices. We expected to see the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet and Xperia M2 in April.
