[MWC 2014] Huawei announces a bunch of devices

Huawei has announced a bunch of devices in MWC 2014 - Ascend G6, MediaPad X1, MediaPad M1 and a wearable device, TalkBand B1.

The Huawei Ascend G6 is a mid-range device from Huawei, it brings a 4.5" screen of qHD (540 x 960 px) resolution, a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor, 5 MP camera on the front and an 8 MP one on the back.

[MWC 2014] Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 801, 610 and 615

Qualcomm has announced a trio of SoC in MWC 2014. The first one is the Snapdragon 801, which found on the Xperia Z2 and Galaxy S5.

The Snapdragon 801 is just a minor update to the Snapdragon 800, however the CPU clock speed has been upgraded to 2.5 GHz and the GPU speed has upgraded to 578 MHz from 450 MHz.

The new Snapdragon 801 also adds support for the eMMC 5.0 standard, which allows the use of faster embedded flash storage, such as the new SanDisk iNAND Extreme.

[MWC 2014] Asus adds two new versions to the Fonepad 7

Asus has added two new versions to the Fonepad 7 - the LTE version and the another one with different chipset.



The specs of both versions are same, the LTE one is still powered by an Intel Atom Z2560 processor at 1.6 GHz. While the second version stays on 3G, but it is powered by different chipset - 1.2 GHz Intel Atom Z2520 SoC.

Other specs are still same - front stereo speakers, 7" display, 1 GB of RAM and 5 MP camera. So will you choose the LTE version of the Fonepad 7 or the 3G version with Intel Atom Z2520 chipset, or perhaps the regular version with Intel Atom Z2560? Leave a comment.

[MWC 2014] HTC unveils Desire 816 and Desire 610

HTC has added two new devices to its Desire lineup - Desire 816 and the Desire 610. Both devices pack mid-range specs but with different screen size.

The HTC Desire 816 is the first phablet in the Desire lineup, it has a 5.5" display with 720p resolution. The Desire 816 is powered by 1.6 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor with Adreno 305 GPU and 1.5 GB of RAM. The device has 8 GB internal storage but luckily it is expandable via microSD card.

[MWC 2014] Samsung Galaxy S5 goes official

Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S5. The new Galaxy S5 has a larger 5.1" 1080p Super AMOLED display and the device is powered by Snapdragon 801 SoC which clocked at 2.5 GHz.

   

To compete with the Xperia Z2, the Galaxy S5 is also featuring IP67 dust and water resistance certification, which is better than the IP58 rating Xperia Z2.

Unlike the Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy S5 has only 2 GB of RAM, which is even less than the Galaxy Note 3 and Xperia Z2 3 GB RAM. The device has the 16/32 GB internal storage with microSD card slot that support up to 128 GB expansion.

[MWC 2014] Lenovo unveiled the S660, S850 and S860

Lenovo has took the wrap off the three powerful yet affordable smartphone called the S660, S850 and S860. These devices are priced at $229, $269 and $349 respectively and will soon be available in select markets.

[MWC 2014] Nokia 220 and Asha 230 go official

Nokia didn't announced any Windows Phone device at MWC this year. Beside the Nokia X lineup, Nokia has also announced the Nokia 220 and Asha 230.

The Nokia 220 is a keypad phone, it is Nokia's most affordable data phone to date. It has a 2.4" display and there's a 2 MP shooter at the back.

The phone uses the cloud powered Nokia Xpress Browser with Microsoft Bing search enabling you to search and surf the internet longer and for less.

[MWC 2014] Nokia announces a trio of X lineup

Nokia has just officially unveiled a trio of X lineup - Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL. These three devices are all dual-SIM smartphone with Android-based.

The Nokia X is an entry-level device, it has a 4" IPS LCD display with WVGA resolution. The device is powered by 1 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 512 MB of RAM.



The device has only 4 GB internal storage with microSD card slot. It has a 3 MP camera at the back with FWVGA video recording at 30 fps. The Nokia X is running on Nokia X OS 1.0, but users are allow to install Android apps from Fastlane.

[MWC 2014] Sony announces Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet and Xperia M2

Just as expected, Sony has just unveiled the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet and the Xperia M2. The Xperia Z2 is the latest Sony's high-end device, while the Xperia Z2 Tablet is a larger version of Xperia Z2, as well as the sucessor of Xperia Tablet Z. As for the Xperia M2, it is previously known as Xperia G, which had appeared before the official announcement.

The Xperia Z2, which is the latest high-end smartphone from Sony. It is the successor of the Xperia Z1 and Sony has improved the device over the Xperia Z1.

  

The Xperia Z2 has a larger 5.2" display with the same 1080p resolution instead of QHD as previous rumors suggested. Sony has once again offered X-Reality engine and Triluminos technology on it, and finally, the display is using IPS unit instead of TFT which found on the Z1.

[MWC 2014] Samsung announces Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo with Tizen OS

Samsung has officially unveiled the second generation of the smartwatch - Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. Both Gear series smartwatches are running on Tizen OS instead of Android (no more Galaxy name).



The Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo have the same 1.63" Super AMOLED display with 320 x 320 resolution, but it has faster 1 GHz dual-core processor compare to its predecessor which is 800 MHz.


Just like its predecessor, the Gear 2 has a 2 MP shooter with capable 720p video recording. While for the Gear 2 Neo, it lacks of camera like the Gear 2. Other specs are included of both watch are 512 MB RAM and 4 GB storage onboard. The brand new Gears come with heart rate monitor and infrared port for remoting your home appliances.

Sadly, the Gear 2 as well as the Gear 2 Neo has only 300 mAh battery, which is 15 mAh less than the predecessor. The Gear 2 is weight at 68 g and the Gear 2 Neo is weight at 55 g.

Last but not least, both watches also feature IP67 dust and water resistance certification. The Gear 2 will be available in Charcoal Black, Gold Brown and Wild Orange. While the Gear 2 will be available in Charcoal Black, Mocha Grey and Wild Orange. The strap is also changeable to other colours.

LG G2 gets mini version

LG has just took a wrap off for the mini version of LG G2, the LG G2 mini is now official with mid-range specs.



The G2 mini has a identical look as the G2, it has a smaller display and the device is available in four colours - black, white, red and gold, just like its bigger brother. The G2 mini has a smaller 4.7" qHD (540 x 960 px) display instead of 720p HD as rumors suggested.

LG announces a trio of L Series III smartphones

LG has just announced a trio of L Series III smartphones - L90, L70 and L40. These smartphones will be showcased during MWC 2014 in Barcelona.

These three smartphones will run on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. The first one is the L90, it has a 4.7" qHD display, 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB internal storage with microSD card slot and an 8 MP camera at the back, as well as 1.3 MP front-facing shooter too.

LG announces G Pro 2, the latest G Series device

LG has announced the successor of the Optimus G Pro - the LG G Pro 2. The LG G Pro 2 is the latest contender of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and HTC One Max, as well as the Oppo N1 that making its way to Malaysia next week.



The LG G Pro 2 has the same design language as the G2, it has the same rear keys - volume and power buttons at the back. The G Pro 2 sports a 5.9" display with Full HD resolution, but with slim bezels according to LG.
