ASUS Malaysia invites consumers to experience ZenFone 2

We will be attending ASUS ZenFone 2 regional launch on 21st April and it seems that Malaysian consumers will soon experience the ZenFone 2. ASUS is now inviting consumers to join the consumer launch happening on 9th May to be the first in Malaysia to experience the ZenFone 2.

The launch will be held at KL Live, Kuala Lumpur and it's an invite-only launch. So if you want to attend the launch, do click here to register. The launch event is limited to 1,000 registered ZenFans only. Make sure you are quick to register it.

ASUS holds a regional launch on 21st April in Jakarta

ASUS has a regional launch for the ZenFone 4, 5 and 6 last year in Indonesia. And for this year, the Taiwanese manufacturer is going to do the same thing again. But this time, the main highlight is going to be the ZenFone 2.

Announced at CES 2015, the ZenFone 2 is the world's first smartphone with 4 GB of RAM. It sports a 5.5" Full HD IPS display, 13 MP PixelMaster camera, 64-bit 2.3 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor and 3,000 mAh battery.

ASUS Malaysia previously did mentioned that the ZenFone 2 will launch in Q2 2015, but there's no exact date. So it seems that we will get to know more about the pricing and availability of the ZenFone 2 in Malaysia.

Not to forget that the ZenFone 2 comes with a few variants - ZE551ML, ZE550ML and ZE500CL. Each variant comes with different processor, screen size and amount of RAM.

ASUS PadFone S Plus goes official, available in Malaysia next week

Well, well ,well. Last year, we saw ASUS brought PadFone S to Malaysia with extremely low price. We even got a full review about it, you can check it here. This year, the company has upgraded the PadFone S with slightly improved specs, and no doubt it is named as PadFone S Plus.

ASUS official distributor, Dynamics Distribution has stated that the PadFone S Plus will be available in Malaysia from 8th April onwards.

Overall the new PadFone S Plus is almost same as the original PadFone S. It still comes with a 5" Full HD display covered by Corning Gorilla Glass and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz.

ASUS Malaysia launches Transformer Book Chi and ZenBook UX305

ASUS Malaysia today has launched the Transformer Book T300 Chi and ZenBook UX305 as well as showcasing the Transformer T100 Book.

Announced at CES 2015, the Transformer Book T300 Chi is a 2-in-1 detachable Windows device. It sports a 12.5" Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS display and is powered by Intel Core M-5Y71 processor with 4 GB of RAM. The thinnest point of it is only 7.6 mm, while the thickest point is 16.5 mm, which slightly thinner than the MacBook Air.

Asus EeeBook X205 is the cheapest notebook you can get in Malaysia

Besides the ZenFone C and Fonepad 7 (FE175CG), Asus today has showcased the EeeBook X205. The EeeBook X205 is an affordable and compact 11.6" laptop you can get in Malaysia.

The X205 has a 11.6" display with the resolution of 1,366 x 768 and is powered by quad-core Intel Z3735 processor clocked at 1.33 GHz. It has a 2 GB DDR3L 1,333 MHz SDRAM and 32/64 GB internal storage that can be expandable via Micro SD card up to 64 GB.

Asus Fonepad 7 (FE171CG) to be available in Malaysia next month

Asus today has launched yet another Fonepad 7 in Malaysia - FE171CG. The Fonepad 7 (FE171CG) is thinner and lighter than the previous Fonepad 7 (FE170CG), and has narrower bezel.

The Fonepad 7 (FE175CG) has a 7" WSVGA (1,024 x 600 pixels) IPS display with 178-degree wide viewing angle. It is powered by the same Intel Atom Z2520 processor but with more RAM and internal storage at 2 GB and 16 GB respectively.

Asus announces ZenFone C in Malaysia, replacement of ZenFone 4

Asus today has announced the new ZenFone C in Malaysia, which is the company's latest entry level smartphone. According to Asus Malaysia, the ZenFone C is going to replace the ZenFone 4 (A400CXG and A450CG models) in the market.

Basically the ZenFone C is almost same as the 4.5" ZenFone 4 (A450CG). It has a 4.5" TFT display with the resolution of 480 x 854. The device is powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2520 processor with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB internal storage.

Asus CES 2015 is not all about Android device, the company has also unveiled a few Transformer Book Chi series detachable laptops - T90, T100 and T300.

The Transformer Book T90 Chi is a lightweight, razor-thin tablet for effortless 2-in-1 portability. It has premium design with precision-crafted textured aluminum and diamond-cut highlights.

The T90 is powered by 1.46 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3775 processor with 1/2 GB RAM. It has 32 GB or 64 GB internal storage. The slate is the world's thinnest 8.9" tablet at just 7.5 mm, it has an 8.9" LED backlit WXGA (1,280 x 800) IPS display. The tablet has a 5 MP camera at the back and 2 MP camera at the front too.

Besides the ZenFone 2, Asus has also unveiled the company's first ever cameraphone. Yes, you heard me right, the ZenFone Zoom is a cameraphone.

Asus today has unveiled the next generation ZenFone at CES 2015. The ZenFone 2, is a flagship smartphone in the ZenFone family. It has all-new design employing iconic ASUS design elements that echo the spirit of Zen, with a luxurious brushed-metal finish and distinctive concentric-circle detailing.

The device has a curved case that tapers to an incredibly thin 3.9 mm at the edges, which provides a better handling. The ZenFone 2 has rear-mounted volume control keys, much like the LG G series.

The new ZenFone 2 sports a 5.5" Full HD IPS display with a 403 ppi pixel density and a wide 178-degree viewing angle. The ZenFone 2 follows the footstep of the Fonepad, it has an ultra-narrow 3.3 mm bezel, with 72% screen-to-body ratio.

Asus Malaysia online store is now live

Currently the online store only offers ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6. Purchase a ZenFone 4 will come with free original bumper case (limited to 100 customers per day only).

Asus MeMO Pad 7 (ME572CL) now available in Malaysia

Asus has yet again brought another Android tablet to Malaysian market. The MeMO Pad 7 (ME572CL) is now available in Malaysia for RM 999.

The MeMO Pad 7 (ME572CL) is a 7" Android 4.4 KitKat tablet with Full HD IPS display. It is powered by a quad-core 64-bit Intel Atom Z3560 processor with 2 GB of RAM.

The slate is inspired by clutch bags and wallets, with Rose Champagne, Gentle Black and Burgundy Red color options. There's a 5 MP camera at the back and 2 MP camera at the front.

Asus PadFone S finally available in Malaysia

Earlier last month the Asus PadFone S is said to be available in mid October, but the company has delayed the stock. And now, it's finally here.

The Asus PadFone S has a 5" Full HD IPS display at 441 ppi while the PadFone station has an 8.9" display. It is powered by 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2 GB of RAM. The 16 GB internal storage is expandable via microSD card up to 64 GB.

At the back it has a 13 MP camera with PixelMaster technology while the front-facing shooter will be a 2 MP unit for the smartphone and 1 MP for the PadFone station.

The smartphone has a 2,300 mAh battery while the PadFone Station has an additional 4,990 mAh battery.

The Asus PadFone S is running on Android 4.4 KitKat with ZenUI and it is upgradeable to Android 5.0 Lollipop. The device is only priced at RM 899 for the smartphone only, while the PadFone station is expected to price at RM 499.

Asus Android 5.0 Lollipop update roadmap leaks

It seems that Asus is already working on the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its devices. The update roadmap has leaked today showing that Asus will seed the latest Android version to its devices from April 2015 onwards.

The roadmap above shows that all ZenFones - ZenFone 4, ZenFone 4 (A450CG), ZenFone 5, ZenFone 5 LTE and ZenFone 6 will be getting Android 5.0 Lollipop in April next year alongside with PadFone S. The PadFone Infinity (A86) will get the update too but at later date.

There's no word whether the rest of the Asus devices such as Fonepad series will get the update or not, but it seems that even though other devices will get the update, the release date will be even later.

New ZenFones and ZenWatch get teased

Asus Japan is teasing a launch of a smartphone and a smartwatch on its official website. It seems that the company is ready to hit Japanese market with ZenFones and ZenWatch.

The first teaser image is the ZenFone, it could be the second generation of ZenFone 4, 5 and 6, but might be just a local launch.

Asus updates Fonepad 7 (FE170CG) to Android 4.4 KitKat

Asus is now seeding the Android 4.4 KitKat update to Fonepad 7 (FE170CG) users. The update is now available for Malaysia users via over-the-air (OTA) update.

The latest Android 4.4 update carries the build number of KVT49L.WW_fonepad-11.2.3.17.3-20141006. It is expected to bring smoother user interface as well as some bugs fixed.

Asus has discontinued the 4 GB version Fonepad 7 (FE170CG) and lower the price of it to RM 429 in August.

It is good to know that Asus has rolled out the Android 4.4 update to its entry-level tablet, its ZenFone lineup has also received the update last week.

Asus Malaysia today has announced the availability of the Fonepad 8 (FE380CG) and MeMO Pad 8 (ME581CL) in Malaysia. Both tablets were announced in Computex 2014 at Tapei, and will be available in Malaysia this month.

The Asus Fonepad 8 (FE380CG) is an 8" tablet with dual-SIM, 3G phone functionality. It is powered by 1.33 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3530 64-bit processor. It has an incredibly narrow 5.06 mm bezel, and 8" HD (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS display and 72.2% screen-to-body ratio provide the largest viewing area of any 8-inch phablet on the market.

Asus updates ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6 to Android 4.4

Asus is now seeding the Android 4.4 update to ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6 users. The update is expected to roll out to the users around the world in coming weeks.

The Android 4.4 KitKat update is expected to bring some new features such as call blocking, full dual stand-by for the dual-SIM variants and a Do Not Disturb mode.

The Asus Extended Easy Mode will now feature contacts, call log, dialer and messaging apps adapt for better readability. The Camera will also see an improvement with an automatic image stabilization.

Malaysia ZenFone 4 users should receive the update while there's no word on the ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6, but you can go to Settings > About phones > Software update to try your luck.

Asus ZenFone 6 (A601CG) available in Malaysia for RM 699

If you're thinking to get a ZenFone 6 but it's pricing is a little bit high at RM 899, then you should look at this. The lower specs version Asus ZenFone 6 (A601CG) is now available in Malaysia with lower price tag at RM 699.

As the price tag goes down, there's no doubt that the specifications will be cut down. However, the only downgrade is the processor - 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 SoC with Intel Hyper Threading Technology, which is same as current ZenFone 5 (non-LTE).

The rest of the specs are same - 6" HD IPS display, 13 MP PixelMaster camera, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB expandable storage and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Asus ZenUI.

It's good to know that Asus is bringing more choices to consumers, the new ZenFone 5 with 16 GB storage is now priced at RM 519, while the ZenFone 5 LTE is priced at RM 709.
