[Computex 2014] Asus announces Transformer Book V, new Fonepad and MeMO Pad series

Asus has announced a few devices at Computex 2014 in Taipei, Taiwan.

Asus Transformer Book V
The Transformer Book V is the world's first five-mode, three-in-one converged laptop that features a Windows and Android laptop and tablet as well as an Android smartphone, making it an incredibly flexible device able to excel in any usage scenario. Its revolutionary and elegant design comprises a laptop with a detachable 12.5-inch screen that becomes a separate tablet and a 5-inch smartphone that docks into the tablet.

The Transformer Book V runs on both Windows 8.1 and Android 4.4 KitKat. As a laptop, the Transformer Book V includes a full QWERTY keyboard and touchpad. The laptop features a next-generation Intel Core processor and the 12.5-inch HD IPS display has sharp graphics and rich, vibrant color, and touch support adds additional convenience and functionality when using Windows 8.1. Transformer Book V comes with ample storage of up to 1TB for apps, documents, media and more.

The Transformer Book V also works as a standalone Windows 8.1 tablet and an Android 4.4 KitKat tablet when the phone is docked. Switching between the two systems only takes a tap on the screen. Its built-in storage of up to 128 GB offers plenty of room to store those apps along with movies, photos, music and more.

As a phone, the Transformer Book V runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and is the world's first 5" LTE smartphone powered by an Intel Atom quad-core processor. Its Long-Term Evolution (LTE) support delivers a superior internet experience with network speeds that are up to four times faster than 3G. Transformer Book V comes with a 2,500 mAh battery that provides up to 10 hours of web browsing time.

Is Asus getting crazy? The Asus Transformer Book V combines the power of a laptop with the mobility of both a tablet and smartphone, and provides the flexibility to run a wide range of apps.

Asus Fonepad 8
The Asus Fonepad 8 is the bigger brother of Fonepad 7 with built-in 3G connectivity and phone functionality. It has an incredibly narrow 5.06 mm bezel, and 8" HD (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS display and 72.2% screen-to-body ratio provide the largest viewing area of any 8-inch phablet on the market.

The Fonepad 8 is powered by the latest 1.33 GHz quad-core 64-bit Intel Atom Z3530 processor. It features dual front stereo speakers with SonicMaster tech that brings a new level of engagement to movies, music and games.

The Fonepad 8 is running on Android 4.4 KitKat with the latest Asus ZenUI on top.

Asus MeMO Pad 7 (ME176C)
The Asus MeMO Pad 7 (ME176C) is Asus latest 7" tablet with WXGA (1280 x 800 pixels) resolution. It is powered by 1.86 GHz quad-core 64-bit Intel Atom Z3745 processor.

It supports Miracast for streaming video in high-definition to a compatible TV or other display, while aptX CSR Bluetooth technology enables wireless streaming of high-quality audio to headphones and other supported devices.

The new MeMO Pad 7 has a 5 MP camera and 2 MP front-facing camera, which is hard to find in an affordable tablet.

Its measures are 113.7 x 189.3 x 9.6 mm and weighs 295 g. Just like the Fonepad 8, the MeMO Pad 7 is running on Android 4.4 KitKat with ZenUI.

Asus MeMO Pad 8 (ME581CL)
The MeMO Pad 8 (ME581CL) is almost similar to the MeMO Pad 7. It is the world’s lightest 8" LTE tablet with 1.8 GHz quad-core 64-bit Intel Atom Z3560 processor.

It has an 8" Full HD IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Although it is an 8" tablet, but it is easy to hold in one hand. It has a premium multi-layer coating with Non-Conductive Vacuum Metallization (NCVM) technology, weighs just 299 g and is only 7.45 mm thick, so it is small and light enough to take anywhere.

The MeMO Pad 8 is also running on Android 4.4 KitKat with ZenUI, which is similar to the Fonepad 8 and MeMO Pad 7.

There's no word on when will these devices enter Malaysian market but do stay tuned for more news.
