HTC previously unveiled the J Butterfly HTL23 for Japanese market through KDDI, a Japanese carrier. Today, HTC has made the international version Butterfly 2 official and it will be available in South Asian markets only.
Just like the Japanese version, the Butterfly 2 sports a 5" 1080p Super LCD3 display with the pixel density of 441 ppi. Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with four 2.5 GHz CPUs. It has 2 GB of RAM and 16/32 GB internal storage with microSD card slot for further expansion.
The camera unit is a 13 MP f/2.0 sensor with depth sensor accompanied with 5 MP front-facing camera. Both cameras are capable for 1080p video recording.
The Butterfly 2's BoomSound dual frontal stereo speakers with a new amplifier, redesigned speaker chambers and a tailored audio profile for a truly high definition experience. Collaborates with HARMAN, the Butterfly 2 features “LiveStage Signal Processing Technology1”, Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and comes bundled with exclusively designed JBL in-ear-headphones.
The Butterfly 2 is a waterproof and dust-proof device with IP57 certification. It is running on Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6 UI. Its measures are 145.4 x 70.2 x 9.99 mm and weighs 151 g.
The HTC Butterfly 2 will be available in the Asian markets starting with Taiwan on September 2nd. It will also be sold through major wireless carriers and retailers in Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, with three colors - Rouge, Canvas and Indigo.
