[IFA 2014] Alcatel OneTouch announces Hero 2, Hero 8, Pop 2 and Pop 8S

Alcatel OneTouch has announced Hero series and Pop series devices at IFA 2014. The Hero 2 and is the latest LTE phablet, while the Pop 2 series devices are more on affordable price tag but also with 4G LTE connectivity. The Hero 8 and Pop 8S are the company's latest 4G LTE-enabled tablets.

Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2
The Hero 2 is the successor over last year's Hero phablet. It features the same 6" TFT LCD display with 1080p resolution protected by Dragontail glass and oleophobic coating.


Powering the phablet is a 2 GHz octa-core Mediatek MT6592 processor with 2 GB of RAM. The 16 GB internal storage is expandable via microSD card up to 32 GB.

There's a 13 MP camera at the back of it and the front camera is a 5 MP unit. Both cameras are capable for 1080p video recording.

 

Juicing up the device is a 3,100 mAh battery to ensure it can overcome 4G LTE network from draining battery. The Hero 2 is running on Android 4.4 KitKat with Alcatel OneTouch custom UI.

Alcatel OneTouch Hero 8
The Hero 8 is a 4G LTE-enabled tablet. It is powered by a MediaTek MT8392+ chipset with a 2 GHz octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM.


The slate has an 8" WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) display and its body is made out of aluminium with just 7.3 mm thin.

It has a 5 MP shooter at the back accompanied with a 2 MP camera at the front. It comes with 16 GB and 32 GB versions, both are expandable via microSD card slot.

It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with Alcatel OneTouch custom UI.

Alcatel OneTouch Pop 2
The Alcatel OneTouch Pop 2 is an entry-level smartphone with 4G LTE connectivity. There are a few versions of Pop 2 with different panel sizes, materials and back covers.

The Pop 2 series devices are powered by Qualcomm's latest 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor with 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU and Adreno 405 GPU.

The camera is a 5 MP unit capable for 1080p video recording. There will be single SIM and dual SIM versions for the Pop 2 series devices.

In addition, it offers such useful features such as one-finger zoom, a mini-apps application that allows use of the phone’s applications without even launching them, plus a feature that reads QR codes, using the camera function, and Wi-Fi display, which lets users send images from their phone to a larger screen.

  

All of these devices are running on Android 4.4 KitKat with Alcatel OneTouch custom UI. The Pop 2 is also available in a premium edition, with sleeker premium materials, in two sizes: 4.5" and 5".

Alcatel OneTouch Pop 8S
The Pop 8S is yet another LTE tablet from the company. It has an 8" display and is also powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor.


The Pop 8S has two versions, one with 5 MP camera and another one with 3 MP camera. The slate is just at 7.9 mm thin and 309 g light.

It is also running on Android 4.4 KitKat with Alcatel OneTouch custom UI.
