[IFA 2014] Alcatel OneTouch announces Hero 2, Hero 8, Pop 2 and Pop 8S

Alcatel OneTouch has announced Hero series and Pop series devices at IFA 2014. The Hero 2 and is the latest LTE phablet, while the Pop 2 series devices are more on affordable price tag but also with 4G LTE connectivity. The Hero 8 and Pop 8S are the company's latest 4G LTE-enabled tablets.

The Hero 2 is the successor over last year's Hero phablet. It features the same 6" TFT LCD display with 1080p resolution protected by Dragontail glass and oleophobic coating.


Powering the phablet is a 2 GHz octa-core Mediatek MT6592 processor with 2 GB of RAM. The 16 GB internal storage is expandable via microSD card up to 32 GB.

There's a 13 MP camera at the back of it and the front camera is a 5 MP unit. Both cameras are capable for 1080p video recording.

[IFA 2014] Motorola announces new Moto X and Moto G with accessories

Motorola has announced second generation Moto X and Moto G at IFA 2014 alongside with accessories.

The new Moto X comes with 5.2" 1080p OLED display at 423 ppi covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.


The device is powered by 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2 GB of RAM. There will be 16 or 32 GB internal storage without memory expansion.

The camera has upgraded to 13 MP resolution with f/2.25 aperture and there's also a 2 MP camera at the front.

[ IFA 2014] Huawei Ascend Mate7 and Ascend G7 are official

Huawei has also unveiled two new devices at IFA 2014, the Ascend Mate7 and Ascend G7.

The Ascend Mate7 is the company's latest 6" phablet with 1080p resolution and narrow screen bezels.


To be honest the Ascend Mate7 actually looks a lot like HTC One Max. The device has a fingerprint sensor right below the camera lens. All you need to do is just place your finger on it. Huawei says the fingerprint reader can recognise up to five fingers.

Under the hood is the latest Huawei Kirin 925 octa-core processor with four 1.8 GHz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 cores alongside a Mali-T628 GPU. The 16 GB version comes with 2 GB of RAM and the 32 GB version comes with 3 GB of RAM.

[IFA 2014] Lenovo announces Vibe X2 and Vibe Z2

Besides the Lenovo Tab S8, Lenovo has also announced two new Vibe series smartphones - Vibe X2 and Vibe Z2.

The Lenovo Vibe X2 is the successor over the ultra-slim Vibe X that announced last year. It still has the same 5" Full HD display and 5 MP front camera.


The device is powered by the new MediaTek MT6595 octa-core processor with 4G LTE connectivity. At the back there's a 13 MP shooter and you can save all your photos into the 32 GB internal storage.

The battery has 2,300 mAh capacity and the phone is only at 7.27 mm slim and 120 g light. It is running on Android 4.4 KitKat with Vibe UI 2.0.

The Lenovo Vibe X2 will be available in white, red, gold and dark grey.

[IFA 2014] HTC unveils Desire 820, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC

The teaser is over, HTC has just made the Desire 820 official with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor.


The Desire 820 is the successor of the Desire 816. It has the same 5.5" LCD display with HD resolution.

There's a 13 MP camera at the back and the front camera has upgraded to 8 MP resolution.

[IFA 2014] Sony announces new Xperia Z series devices, Xperia E3 and SmartWatch 3

Sony has announced a bunch of devices at IFA this year. These are included Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia E3 and the Android Wear powered SmartWatch 3.

The Xperia Z3 is the latest flagship device from Sony, it is almost same as Xperia Z2 though. It is powered by 2.5 GHz quad-core MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 processor with 3 GB of RAM.

   

It has a 5.2" IPS LCD display with 1080p resolution (no 2K). The display has improved which is able to reach 600 nits brightness.

The camera is the same 20.7 MP unit with OIS and 4K video recordings. The device is 1 mm slimmer and 11 g lighter than its predecessor.

[IFA 2014] Microsoft Mobile announces Nokia Lumia 830, Lumia 730 and Lumia 735

Microsoft Mobile has announced three new devices to the Lumia lineup - Lumia 830, Lumia 730 and Lumia 735.

Nokia Lumia 830
The Nokia Lumia 830 is the Lumia 930 younger brother. It has a 5" 720p HD IPS LCD display covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

 

The device is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB expandable storage.

The Lumia 830 has a 10 MP f/2.2 camera with Zeiss optics and OIS instead of 20 MP as previous rumors suggested. It has Rich Capture which allows you to expose darker areas of an image and even add an LED flash effect after you've taken an image.

The Lumia 830 comes with 2,200 mAh battery and supports wireless charging. Its measurements are 139.4 x 70.7 x 8.5 mm and weighs 150 g.

[IFA 2014] Samsung unveils Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge

IFA is always the tradition home for Galaxy Note series. However, instead of announcing one Galaxy Note device, Samsung has decided to announce two for this year.

Just as usual, the next generation Galaxy Note phablet is now official. There's no doubt that it is named as Galaxy Note 4.

   

The Galaxy Note 4 has the same 5.7" display but the resolution has been upgraded to QHD (1,440 x 2,560 pixels). There are two variants of Galaxy Note 4 - Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC and Samsung's Exynos 5433 SoC. Both variants feature 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB expandable storage.

At the back it has a 16 MP camera with OIS that capable for 4K video recordings. The front-facing unit is now a 3.7 MP snapper with f/1.9 aperture.

The phablet comes with metal frame similar to Galaxy Alpha and faux leather back, and it will be available in four colors - Frosted white, Charcoal black, Bronze Gold and Blossom Pink.

Connectivity wise it is same as Galaxy S5, but it is not water and dust resistance. Juicing up the device is a 3,220 mAh battery with fast charging support.

It is running on Android 4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz UX. Its measurements are 153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm and weighs 176 g.

[IFA 2014] Asus ZenWatch is the company's first smart wearable device

Just as expected Asus has made the company's first smart wearable device - ZenWatch. The ZenWatch is running on Android Wear and featuring a version of the ASUS ZenUI user interface developed specifically for ZenWatch.

  

The ZenWatch has a 2.5D curved glass to increase usability with a smooth and responsive touch experience. It features Watch Unlock, Tap Tap, Remote Camera, Cover to Mute, Find My Phone and Presentation Control.

It has a 1.63" display with the resolution of 320 x 320 and is powered by 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor with 512 MB of RAM.

The device also comes with 9-axis sensor, which means it is also a fitness tracker.

[IFA 2014] Lenovo announces Intel powered Tab S8

Lenovo is the first manufacturer to kick start IFA 2014 by announcing its first ever Intel powered Android tablet - Lenovo Tab S8.


The Tab S8 sports an 8" Full HD (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) display with One Glass Solution touch-panel technology.

The slate is powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3745 processor with Intel Burst Performance Technology with 2 GB of RAM. It also supports 4G LTE connectivity too.

The Tab S8 has an 8 MP camera with f/2.2 aperture at its back while the front-facing unit will be 1.6 MP.

It is running on Android 4.4 KitKat and the 16 GB version is only priced at USD $199.

[Update] What device to expect on IFA 2014?

IFA 2014 is just less than one month and so far only Samsung and Sony have sent out the invitation to the media. We know that we have missed many things but now we will cover what we missed in these few weeks. To ensure our readers not to miss out anything, here's the wrap out of what device to expect on IFA 2014. We will keep this post update once we have received the latest news.

Asus
Asus will be attending IFA fair in Berlin as usual and has sent out invitations for its press conference. The press conference is scheduled for September 3rd, same day as Samsung and Sony.

The invitation doesn't reveal anything but the In Search of Incredible motto. We don't expect much on Asus as Asus has unleashed a tons of devices this year.

Now we can only sit and wait to see what Asus is going to unveil, hopefully something that can surprise us.
