Moto 360 now available in Malaysia for RM 899

After a long wait, the Moto 360 is now finally available in Malaysia officially and it costs RM 899.

The Moto 360 is the first Android Wear device to feature a round face design, the company claims to have used premium materials to provide the much needed elegance. It is also water and dust resistant with IP67 certification.

Just like the rest of Android Wear devices, you can see who's emailing or calling, what time your next meeting is or a friend's latest social post.

Moto 360 also responds to your voice by saying “Ok Google” to ask questions or to get stuff done like scheduling an appointment, sending a text, setting an alarm or taking a note.

You can get the Moto 360 for RM 899 from Brightstar Malaysia or DirectD.

Motorola unveils 2nd generation Moto E with LTE

Motorola did well on the first generation Moto E with affordable price tag but good specs in town. We have reviewed it few months ago and you can find it out here. This year, Motorola has unveiled the 2nd generation Moto E, much like what they did to the Moto G and Moto X.

The 2nd generation Moto E screen has grew to 4.5", but the resolution is still the same. There are actually two variants of Moto E - 3G and 4G LTE. The 3G variant is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, while the 4G LTE variant has a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz.

Motorola Moto G (2014) receives Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update in Malaysia

Motorola has rolled out the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update to the Moto G (2014). The update weighs 377.4 MB and is now available in Malaysia.

The Lollipop update brings the same features and improvements as the Nexus devices. It comes with new Material Design and some UI tweaks. With the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update, the Ambient Display can show notifications without turning on the full display. The Motorola apps like Motorola Assist, camera and more will also get updated.

Lenovo completes acquisition of Motorola from Google

Lenovo has announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Motorola from Google. This move has been long on the cards and has cost the Chinese company a cool $ 2.91 billion and was first announced in late January. Despite the acquisition, Motorola's headquarters remains in Chicago and its brand remains intact just now being referred to as 'a Lenovo company'.

Lenovo will operate its new acquisition as a wholly-owned subsidiary. Lenovo now owns the Motorola brand and the company portfolio, including current products like the Moto X (2014) , Moto G (2014) and Moto 360.

Motorola will bring the new Moto G to Malaysia tomorrow

Motorola has announced the new Moto X and Moto G last month, the new Moto G will be available in Malaysia from 25th October onwards, which is tomorrow.

The new Moto G has a larger 5" 720p display covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1 GB of RAM.

Unlike last year's Moto G, its camera has been upgraded to 8 MP but it is still capable for 720p video recording only. The new Moto G is also running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with pure Google experience. Motorola promises that the phone is upgreadable to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Pricing wise, the new Moto G is even cheaper than last year's Moto G at RM 688 for 8 GB version, while the 16 GB version most probable won't be available in Malaysia. Unlike last year's Moto G, it comes with dual speakers at the front and you can still customize it with Motorola Shells.

The device will be available in Malaysia tomorrow, and as for the new Moto X, there's no word on its launching date at the moment. Black and white will be the base colors for this new dual-SIM Motorola device.

Google Nexus 6 is now official, manufactured by Motorola

Google has officially announced its latest flagship device - Nexus 6. Unlike previous years, the Nexus 6 is manufactured by Motorola this year instead of LG who manufactured the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5.

The Nexus 6 has a 5.96" AMOLED display with Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution, that's 493 ppi. The screen is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which can resist scratches. Being the latest flagship device, the Nexus 6 packs a 2.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor with 3 GB of RAM.

Google Nexus 6 by Motorola leaks in a press render

Google will announce new generation Nexus device every year October, and it seems that the new Nexus 6 will not be manufactured by LG anymore, but Motorola.

The upcoming Nexus 6 is expected to debut at some point in the second half of October. The press render above reveals that the Nexus 6 will take the Moto design language. It will feature dual-front stereo speakers and rounded edges design, which looks like Nexus S.

The render above also reveals the homescreen layout of the device. It will be having revamped icons, as well as a brand new folder for Google Drive and its suite of editing apps. It will join the Google and Play folders.

Specs wise, the Nexus 6 is expected to come with 5.9" QHD display at 496 ppi, Snapdragon 805 SoC, 13 MP camera and Android L OS. It is also said to be capable with the Motorola turbo charger.

[IFA 2014] Motorola announces new Moto X and Moto G with accessories

Motorola has announced second generation Moto X and Moto G at IFA 2014 alongside with accessories.

The new Moto X comes with 5.2" 1080p OLED display at 423 ppi covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The device is powered by 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2 GB of RAM. There will be 16 or 32 GB internal storage without memory expansion.

The camera has upgraded to 13 MP resolution with f/2.25 aperture and there's also a 2 MP camera at the front.

Motorola Moto X+1 press image leaks

Motorola is expected to unveil the Moto X+1, Moto G2 and already announced Moto 360 at upcoming IFA 2014. Today, famous tipster evleaks has posted a press image of the Moto X+1 on Twitter as a retirement gift.

The image reveals the smartphone with Verizon branding, international version won't be having this branding. It showcases the device in black and white, as well as wooden back cover.

The Moto X+1 looks like the Moto X with addition dual front-facing stereo speakers. The device will feature dual-LED flash as shown in the image above.

Specs wise the Moto X+1 is expected to pack a 5.2" 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 SoC and 2 GB of RAM.

It will debut at IFA 2014 in Berlin next month alongside with the Moto G2, Moto 360 and a Bluetooth accessory.

[Update] The Motorola Moto E is now available in Malaysia.

Three months exactly after it announced, the Motorola Moto E is finally on its way to Malaysian market. The most affordable smartphone from Motorola is expected to arrive Malaysia tomorrow (13th August) exclusively through Lazada Malaysia.

The Moto E has a 4.3" display with qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution at 256 ppi of pixel density, it is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The phone is resistant to water splashes, just like the Moto G.

Under the hood is the 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor backed up by Adreno 302 GPU and 1 GB of RAM.

Motorola Moto G LTE to launch in Malaysia this Friday

Motorola has refreshed the Moto G with 4G LTE and additional microSD card slot two months ago, and today Motorola has announced that the Moto G LTE to be available in Malaysia from this Friday (11th July) onwards with the price tag of RM 799, which is RM 1 more expensive than the original 16 GB variant.

Nothing much difference between the original Moto G and Moto G LTE - 4.5" 720p display, Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1 GB of RAM, 5 MP camera with LED flash, 2,070 mAh battery and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

The LTE version of Moto G comes with 4G LTE connectivity and additional microSD card slot, and it is only available in single-SIM variant.

The Moto G LTE will be available in black and white colour options for RM 799. Besides, the Motorola Flip Shell and Motorola Shell will be also available in Malaysia for RM 128 and RM 68 respectively. It will be available through authorized distributor, Brightstar.

Motorola Moto X and Moto G will be getting Android L

Android L is still in the developer preview phase and only available to the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013) only. However many companies like HTC and OnePlus have already confirmed that their devices (not all) will be getting the Android L soon in 90 days after it released. Now Moto customer support is claiming that Android L will be hitting Moto X and Moto G once it is available.

 

However customer support isn't the most reliable source of information as the firmware update for a phone is decided after in-house developers have had a good look and evaluated the possibilities. It's too early to make any conclusion considering Android L isn't even final.

Currently HTC has confirmed that the One (M8) and One (M7) will be getting Android L update, and OnePlus has also confirmed that the One will also receive the same treatment with CyanogenMod. The Google Nexus lineup probably will be the first devices to receive the update in Fall. Motorola smartphones have pure Android experience, so we expect it will get before HTC and OnePlus.

What makes the Moto G LTE better is it features 4G LTE connectivity and microSD card slot, which people complaint about the original Moto G.

However, with these additional features, the Moto G LTE is priced at slightly higher price for $219 (around RM 709) comparing to the original 8 GB Moto G.

The Motorola Moto G LTE will be available in more than 40 countries soon, hopefully it will arrive Malaysia soon.

Motorola Moto E live photos and press renders leak

The Motorola Moto E will be the cheapest Motorola smartphone ever and it is expected to debut next week (May 13th) in London. Today a few live photos as well as press renders have leaked from different sources.

From the live photos and press renders above, the Moto E will have a slightly smaller design than the Moto G. The Moto E will also likely have a front speaker below the display.

It seems that the Moto E will not having front-facing camera and LED flash, which means that the device will set at really low price tag.

Specs wise the Moto E is expected to pack a 4.3" display, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 5 MP camera and run on Android 4.4 KitKat.

The official announcement of the Moto E will be held in London on May 13th. The device is likely to enter Malaysian market too.

Motorola new smartphone official announcement sets on May 13th

Motorola has sent out an invitation for its latest smartphone official announcement on May 13th and will be happening in London.



The invitation doesn't provide any information besides the quote "Made to last. Priced for all.", it could be the announcement for the Moto E, which will be the cheapest smartphone from Motorola.

Another Motorola smartphone could be announced is the Moto X+1, which is the successor of the Moto X. We can only wait for the official announcement and everything will be unveiled.

Meanwhile, the Moto X is now available in Malaysia for RM 1,499.

Previously Motorola reportedly will be working on a device that even cheaper than the Moto G. Today, the Motorola Moto E has leaked out, which is the cheapest Motorola smartphone ever.



The upcoming Moto E is expected to pack a 4.3" display with unknown resolution, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB internal storage. We believe that the 4 GB internal storage is expandable via microSD card as 4 GB is obviously not enough for users in terms of available storage these days.
