IFA is always the tradition home for Galaxy Note series. However, instead of announcing one Galaxy Note device, Samsung has decided to announce two for this year.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Just as usual, the next generation Galaxy Note phablet is now official. There's no doubt that it is named as Galaxy Note 4.
The Galaxy Note 4 has the same 5.7" display but the resolution has been upgraded to QHD (1,440 x 2,560 pixels). There are two variants of Galaxy Note 4 - Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC and Samsung's Exynos 5433 SoC. Both variants feature 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB expandable storage.
At the back it has a 16 MP camera with OIS that capable for 4K video recordings. The front-facing unit is now a 3.7 MP snapper with f/1.9 aperture.
The phablet comes with metal frame similar to Galaxy Alpha and faux leather back, and it will be available in four colors - Frosted white, Charcoal black, Bronze Gold and Blossom Pink.
Connectivity wise it is same as Galaxy S5, but it is not water and dust resistance. Juicing up the device is a 3,220 mAh battery with fast charging support.
It is running on Android 4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz UX. Its measurements are 153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm and weighs 176 g.
Samsung Galaxy Note Edge
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is pretty similar to the Galaxy Note 4 but it comes with unique two-sided display.
The folded side adds an extra 160 pixels so its resolution goes up to 1,600 x 2,560 which makes the phone a bit wider.
With the phone locked, the curved side can display the Quick Glance info. When you wake the screen, the side displays notifications for various features, including timer and flashlight shortcuts and even a ruler.
You can keep shortcuts on the side for easy access or use the curved side for at-a-glance info. Or you can use it to enhance multitasking by switching between several screens. Even switching between the pages of the homescreen or the app drawer is also handled by the curved side.
The specs are similar to the Galaxy Note 4 - Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC and Samsung's Exynos 5433 SoC, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB expandable storage, 16 MP camera, 3.7 MP front and Android 4.4 KitKat.
The battery is slightly smaller at 3,000 mAh and it is slightly thinner and lighter than the Galaxy Note 4 at 151.3 x 82.4 x 8.3 mm and 174 g.
