Acer Iconia A1 tablet goes official head to head with iPad mini, Nexus 7 and Galaxy Note 8.0

Previously I've posted that the Acer Iconia A1 tablet leaked online. Today, it finally goes official with a cheaper price but good specs.

The Iconia A1 tablet has a 7.9" LED IPS display with the same resolution (1024 x 768 pixels) as iPad mini and a 4:3 aspect ratio. The tablet sports a quad-core CPU but the RAM still unknown (most probably to be 1 GB of RAM).

The Iconia A1 design is almost same as iPad mini, it also having a 5 MP camera that capable for 1080p video recording, there's also a front-facing camera for video calls. Iconia A1 also features a rich connectivity such as microHDMI port, microUSB 2.0, WiFi b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0, and there’s integrated GPS (though no sign of a 3G variant).

The Iconia A1 tablet available for 8/ 16 GB internal memory with micro-SD card slot up to 32 GB supported. It is running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box with Acer Touch WakeApp gesture which the company says will kick into preset apps when you swipe in a certain way.

The Iconia A1 tablet will be priced at $169.99 (around RM 515) for the 8 GB version, and $199.99 (around RM 607) for the 16 GB version. Unfortunately, there's no information of the pricing and availability of it in Malaysia, but expected it will be cheaper than iPad mini in Malaysia. The Iconia A1 is also the challenger for iPad mini, Nexus 7 and Galaxy Note 8.0.
