iOS 8.1 released and ready to be updated by the general public

Last week at its iPad showcase event, Apple announced that iOS 8.1 would be available starting today. Well the wait is over ladies and gentleman, Apple has kept its promise as the latest version of iOS is now ready to be downloaded and installed now.

For those of you who own an iOS device but do not know how to update your device manually. Go to Settings > General > Software Update. The new update should be waiting to be installed right there.


Those of you in the US with an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus would be getting Apple's new Apple Pay, which is the company's new digital wallet and payment service made possible through NFC and TouchID fingerprint sensor.

Aside from the multitude of bug fixes coming from the new iOS 8, new features for photos such as iCloud Photo Library as a beta service, a Camera Roll album and a My Photo Stream Album have been included. The Photos app will now notify you when you're running low on memory when capturing time lapse videos.

Besides that, the Messages app has not been neglected either. It now has the ability to send and receive SMS and MMS messages on their iPad or Mac through the much talked about Continuity feature.

In terms of cellular data, you are now able to choose between 2G, 3G or LTE networks. Passbook passes have also received AirDrop support. Keyboards also get a new dictation option which is seperate from Siri. Lastly, HealthKit Apps can now access data in the background.
